Students from 4th through 8th grade participated in the King Arthur Flour Life Skills Bread Baking Program® and learn that with a little science, a little baking instruction, and some good flour, they can bake delicious bread! The students took home flour, a recipe booklet, yeast, a bread bag, a dough scraper, and he know-how to make two loaves of bread from scratch. With the support from their parents and family, everyone benefited. One loaf was brought back to St. Charles Catholic School and was donated to St. Charles Senior Nutrition Center. The second delicious loaf was for their keeping to enjoy at home. The "newly-inspired bakers" experienced the satisfaction of helping others while enjoying the pleasures of baking real homemade bread.
